2022 Pantomimes
It’s nearly panto season (oh no it’s not). When looking for a “pantomime near me”, first you should know the special celebrity guests that will appear in classics such as Jack and the Beanstalk and Aladdin pantomimes. Let’s have a look at which of our celebs you can see at pantomimes this year!
Joe McElderry
The golden boy from South Shields, Joe McElderry has continued to capture the nation’s hearts after winning X-Factor at just 18. Since then, he has participated in various TV shows including winning The Jump and Popstar to Operastar and has starred in hit stage musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and The Who’s Tommy.
But, Joe is no stranger to the pantomime scene. He has previously played the Prince in Cinderella and Snow White, Aladdin and Dick Whittington. This time around, Joe returns to the north, starring as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella at Newcastle Theatre Royal. Get your tickets now and come see Joe between the 29th of November, all the way to the 15th of January.
Anne Hegerty
The Governess herself. Anne Hegerty has become a fan-favourite Chaser. But, Anne is not just famous for being smart, though we wouldn’t want to face her on ITV’s The Chase. She has been celebrated as a public figure, featured on programmes such as I’m a Celeb, Celebrity Juice and Sunday Night at the London Palladium.
Putting down her thinking cap and joining the world of theatre, Anne will be playing Fairy Flutterby in Beauty and the Beast at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre. From the 3rd of December to the 2nd of January, if you are looking for a “pantomime near me” and based in Swindon, make sure you see our Governess create magic as the Enchantress. Find tickets here.
Mark Labbett
But, Anne Hegerty isn’t the only Chaser on the pantomime scene. Mark Labbett, or The Beast, has become a household name in not just the UK, but in America as well. In the US spinoff of The Chase, he served as the only chaser when it first started in 2013.
From performing in Peter Pan and Aladdin pantomimes, Mark is joining the world of Jack and the Beanstalk in the role of “Fleshcreep”, alongside Su Pollard at Northwich Memorial Court. If you are looking for a comic escape this Christmas, a “pantomime near me” might just be the thing you need! Book tickets and see Mark between the 5th and 31st of December.
Billy Pearce
Beginning his career as a variety entertainer, Billy Pearce first rose to fame by reaching the final of New Faces in 1986, a televised talent show. Since then, he has performed a variety of entertaining comedy shows, including The Billy Pearce Laughter Show at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre. Born in Leeds, he has continued working in Yorkshire, including in various pantomimes.
This year, Billy will star in Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime at the Alhambra Theatre. So, book tickets between the 10th of December to the 22nd of January here.
Patsy Kensit
Patsy Kensit began her career as a child actor in a string of Birds Eye TV adverts. At just 6 years old, she starred alongside Mia Farrow in Jack Clayton’s The Great Gatsby, written by Francis Ford Coppola. From blockbusters like Lethal Weapon 2, to starring in TV’s Emmerdale and Holby City. Patsy has made a name for herself in film, TV and the theatre.
Our Patsy knows a thing or two about pantomimes. In the early 2000s, ITV produced and televised a series of pantomimes, including Aladdin starring Patsy as the Princess. And, now she’s coming back to what she knows. Between the 8th and 31st of December, this time as the Genie of the Lamp, Patsy will be wowing crowds at The Atkinson in Southport once again. If you’re in the area and looking for a “pantomime near me”, book your tickets today!
Vicki Michelle
Vicki Michelle is no stranger to making people laugh. It’s her bread and butter. Vicki’s career began appearing with some of Britain’s biggest comedians, such as Les Dawson, Lenny Henry and The Two Ronnies. But, it’s her iconic role as Yvette in ‘Allo ‘Allo that has made her a household name in films, TV and theatre.
Vicki has appeared in all sorts of pantomimes, including with our Anne Hegerty in 2016’s Jack and the Beanstalk. She returns to the stage in Sleeping Beauty at the Playhouse Theatre in Weston-super-Mare.
Mike McClean
Hosting numerous shows for the likes of BBC, ITV and Sky1, Mike McClean originally wanted to be an actor and has guest appeared in shows such as Shameless, My Mad Fat Diary and The Office. But, it’s as a stand-up comic that he found his calling as a TV presenter on the kids’ game show It’s Not Fair and Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast.
Between the 16th and 31st of December, Mike will be performing at the Regent Theatre in Ipswich this Christmas as Smee, the right-hand man of Captain Hook. With an all-star cast, including our very own “Squeaky” this production is not one to miss. Book your tickets here.
