Caprice Valerie Bourret, born on 24 October 1971 in Hacienda Heights, California, United States, is an internationally renowned American supermodel, entrepreneur, actress, producer, and media personality, widely known mononymously as Caprice. Often described as one of the most photographed women in the world, she rose to prominence in the 1990s with appearances on over 350 magazine covers, including Vogue, GQ, Cosmopolitan, Maxim, and Sports Illustrated. She has been honoured as GQ’s Woman of the Year, Maxim’s International Woman of the Year for three consecutive years, and the News of the World’s sexiest woman. After relocating to England in her early twenties, she became a beloved adopted Brit and diversified her career into acting, music, television, and business. Caprice founded the successful By Caprice brand in 2006, encompassing lingerie, swimwear, sleepwear, and home products, which expanded globally.

She has since transitioned into film production and starring roles, particularly in festive movies. Represented by Celeb Agents, she is available for personal appearances, media engagements, speaking opportunities, and brand collaborations. For bookings, contact [email protected]

Early Life and Education

Born in Southern California to an interior designer mother, Valerie Ann (née Pion), who is Jewish, and a French-Canadian estate agent father, Dale Bourret, Caprice was raised primarily by her mother following her parents’ separation when she was four and subsequent divorce. She has a younger sister and attended Bishop Amat Memorial High School, a private Catholic institution in La Puente, California, graduating in 1989. At age 16, while still in high school, she began working as a waitress, demonstrating early independence and a strong work ethic.

Rise in Modelling and Media Career

Caprice achieved global fame in the 1990s through high-profile modelling campaigns, including advertisements for Diet Coke and Pizza Hut, and numerous television appearances. She featured in over 150 TV shows and films, hosted programmes such as Caprice’s Travels, and presented at major events including the European MTV Awards, World Music Awards, and the Oscars red carpet. Her reality television credits include Celebrity Big Brother (third series), The Surreal Life, Dancing on Ice, Celebs on the Farm (runner-up), and Ladies of London. She also performed in West End productions, starring in Rent and The Vagina Monologues, and released music singles with Virgin Records, including “Oh Yeah” and “Once Around the Sun,” both charting at UK No. 24.

Business Innovation and Brand Expansion

In 2000, Caprice entered a licensing agreement with Debenhams for a lingerie range. She repurchased the licence in 2006 and independently launched By Caprice, focusing on glamour, originality, and quality in lingerie, swimwear, and sleepwear. The brand expanded to include By Caprice Home (bedding and textiles) in 2010, with launches in major retailers such as Dunelm, Next, Very.co.uk, Wayfair, and Bed Bath & Beyond in the United States from 2019. In 2018, she licensed By Caprice Home to Sadaqat for international growth. Demonstrating entrepreneurial foresight, she made her first million-pound property investment at a young age and has continued building a substantial portfolio. In 2023, she established JJLove Productions Ltd for film production.

Caprice has revitalised her acting career in recent years, producing and starring in festive films through her production company. She is a committed philanthropist, raising significant funds for charities and serving as a patron for organisations including Women’s Trust and Brain Tumour Research. Caprice is Jewish and has spoken publicly about concerns regarding antisemitism in recent years.
