About Melissa Hartzel
It all started when Melissa Hartzel was just 10 years old when she began training as an actor at the Italia Conti Stage School and she has been working in TV, film, and commercials ever since (and loved every minute of it!).
There are some jobs that stand out more than others during her career, and there are two that immediately spring to mind; Ed Sheeran’s ‘Antisocial’ music video, in which she plays Bev, an over the top shopping channel presenter… selling Edible Ed of course; and she’ll never forget the time on the Channel 4 hidden camera series ‘Shop Secrets Tricks of the Trade’, that she had to slap customers around the face and tell them it was good for their skin!
As an actor and presenter Melissa has worked on so many commercials, corporate videos, and advertising photo campaigns that she’s lost count, but here are a few some just to mention a few. Hewlett Packard, Fanta, Dairy Crest, Golden Churn, The Sun, Eurostar, British Rail, Furnitureland, Tesco, Mercedes, Virgin, Allay, Haywards pickles, Panasonic, DFS, LG, Not on the High Street, and Orange. Of all the commercials she has appeared in, the one she was most excited to work on was the BBC2 Christmas continuity ident of 1998! Melissa was a drunk fairy that got taken away in a champagne bubble!
Melissa has been found guest presenting beauty segments on some of the UK’s favorite shopping channels as well as having the incredible opportunity of going undercover for Channel 4 in the hidden camera show ‘Shop Secrets Tricks of the Trade’. She has also worked as a spokesperson for brands such as Rimmel, NYX, and Makebelieve.
If that wasn’t enough, she got the bug for writing and producing, and decided her first project was to be her own comedy sketch show. It was great fun to work on and for her first attempt at writing/producing she is very proud of the results. It’s titled ‘Three Men & A Lady’ and you can find out more about this project by clicking here. Melissa enjoyed this taste of writing so much that she has since found herself writing a sitcom based on her weird experiences from working in the beauty industry. She has really loved this process and is so proud of the finished script (which is currently being pitched, so watch this space!).
